KENNETH BRESHEARS, Riverbank, CA, 03-31-1967, Vietnam, U.S. Army

Kenneth is standing on the back hatch of an M-113 APC.
The last time I saw Kenneth alive was about a month before he died in Vietnam. He was home on leave before going back to Vietnam. He was in the backyard of my parents house. He had about a dozen young neighborhood kids marching around as if they were on a military parade ground. Aunt Odessie never recovered from his death. No parent deserves to be a “Gold Star Parent.”

John Newton Leroux enlisted as a private in Company E, 6th Infantry, Missouri National Guard on June 27, 1917. The 6th went to Camp Clark at Nevada, Missouri, and then to Camp Doniphan which was near Fort Sill, Oklahoma. The 6th Infantry was made up of men from southeast Missouri.
